Soup:
- 1 sugar pumpkin (pie pumpkin)
- 1/2 c sugar
- 2 quarts water
- 1/2 gallon whole milk
- Wash, quarter and scrape out the pumpkin.
- Boil pumpkin in about two quarts of water or just enough to cover pumpkin.
- Remove pumpkin from the water but keep the water for the stock.
- Peal the pumpkin then cut into small cubes.
- Add pumpkin back to water.
- Stir in up to a half gallon of whole milk.
- Stir in sugar.
- Bring to a boil.
Dumplings:
- 1 cup flour
- Pinch of salt
- 3 eggs
- 3 half egg shells of water (about 2 Tbsp)
- Mix dumpling ingredients together.
- Slowly add to soup while it is at a low boil.
- Cook until dumplings rise to the top.
